Issues Identified
Testing uncovered several issues in the new system configuration prior to data migration and go-live, these included:
- Voice roaming incorrectly charged whilst roaming in North America.
- Incorrect billing of international calls to Asia.
- International SMS not charged for messages to Latin America.
- Incorrect data volume allowances within local plans.
- Data roaming incorrectly charged whilst roaming Europe.
Lessons Learned
- The parallel run identified and allowed the operator to address several important issues, preventing significant revenue loss and potential reputational damage.
- Automation of testing allowed an expanded testing scope within the timeframes and budget of the project to test scenarios such as roaming and international calling that manual testing cannot reach.
